SHORT FUNCTIONAL TEXT

Functional text is a text, contains instruction or direction that should be followed. It is usually used in the daily life. Functional text can be ; short message, shopping list, warning, announcement and so on. See the example and assignment given below!

1. Announcement

Announcement is something said, written, or printed to make known what has happened or (more often) what will happen. It provides complete and clear information about certain events or occation.

Generic structure/ points of an announcement:

1.The title or type of event

2.Date or time, place

2. WARNING/CAUTION

Warning is a kind of short functional text which is refer to notice text. The function of warning text is to warns people to be careful in handling something. Ignoring the notice may cause injury or breaking the facilities.

• Beware of Pickpockets

3. Notices

is defined as advanced notification or warning. People usually use notice to give information, instruction or warning. That’s why in the notice, people use a simple word with a simple font which is written in a placard or notice board.

Warning is divided into

a) Written warning, that can be write or oral warning

b) Symbol warning, that can be a symb or colour.
